Scarborough Garden
A very exposed steeply sloping site with a modern style contemporary home designed by architect Thom Craig.
With no neighbouring houses or other natural shelters this property was very exposed to wind.
The garden is 100% Aotearoa New Zealand native plants with a gradation of planting from lowland to alpine plant varieties as the terrain goes down the hill. Included are Matagouri to keep out intruders, scrambling Coprosmas and upright Astelias. A lot of Silver Tussock has been used below to simulate mountain terrain with accompanying Black Beech trees. Many plants were eco-sourced from nurseries that select plant stock from the surrounding Port Hills.
The property featured in the Press and Homestyle NZ Magazine.
